Juan Pablo Mata, CEO of Grupo Mariposa, Invited to Speak at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting (FEM)

Juan Pablo Mata, CEO of the multilatin corporation Grupo Mariposa, was invited as a presenter at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, an event that has taken place for 54 years in Davos, Switzerland.

The 2024 edition adopted the theme “Rebuilding Trust”, aiming to restore collective agency and focus on the fundamental principles that foster trust, transparency, coherence, and accountability.

Davos 2024 is centered around four focus areas:

  1. Achieving security and cooperation in a fractured world.
  2. Creating growth and employment for a new era.
  3. Artificial intelligence as a driving force of the economy and society.
  4. Long-term strategy for climate, nature, and energy.

Participation in Davos 2024

Davos 2024 convenes over 100 governments, major international organizations, civil society leaders, prominent experts, young leaders, social entrepreneurs, media, and 1,000 partner companies of the World Economic Forum. Among these is Grupo Mariposa, one of the first Central American companies to be part of this prestigious organization and to participate in the Davos Forum.

Grupo Mariposa participated in the 2024 edition as the only Central American company at this important event, under the banner of “Rebuilding Trust”.

Juan Pablo Mata, CEO of Grupo Mariposa, was invited as a speaker in a session titled: “The Alliance for Equitable Transition”. This session focused on three objectives:

  1. Recognizing the importance of economic equity in the green transition.
  2. Discussing the World Economic Forum’s Framework for Economic Equity in the Green Transition to consider strategies that can prevent an increase in economic inequalities, both within and between countries.
  3. Aligning in key areas and opportunities where this Alliance for Equitable Transition can make breakthroughs.

Mata participated in this session alongside notable figures like Jennifer Morgan, State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action of Germany; Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and CEO of Malaysia’s PETRONAS Group; Saadia Zahidi, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum; and Kadri Simson, European Commissiners for Energy.
