CBC sets science-based targets that support its decarbonization path.

At CBC we work to reduce our carbon footprint to become a carbon neutral company in 2050. To achieve this, it is important to measure ourselves against the highest international standards and for that reason we adhered to the Science Based Targets Initiative for the reduction of carbon greenhouse gases in scopes 1 and 2 through science-based initiatives.

Science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions that help prevent the impacts of climate change.

Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and if they are in line with the 1.5 degrees Celsius commitment put forth by the United Nations and other international climate institutions.

Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 48% by 2030. We will achieve this by using renewable energy, environmentally friendly technology and the optimization of fuel use.

These objectives were independently evaluated and approved in accordance with strict criteria that guarantee that they are in line with the global decarbonization efforts and objectives.
